Hey there, fabulous folks! How’s everyone been? I’ve been pretty tied up lately, so I haven’t been chiming in as much in the comments.
But I’ve been keeping tabs on all your chats and I’ve seen a bunch of you talking about the Loewe Puzzle Bag.
In fact, I got an Replica Knockoff Puzzle Bag last year and had plans to write a review, but I wanted to really use it first before sharing my thoughts.
Well, you know how it goes, there are always new bag reviews to write, and I kind of forgot about it, oops!
Today, I’m finally taking the time to share my in-depth review of the Loewe Puzzle Bag.
Now, I heard that the Loewe Puzzle might be discontinued! Say what? What’s that all about?
Review of my Loewe puzzle bag
I first delved into the Loewe Puzzle craze during Covid when I saw this bag in a documentary I watched about Spain.
I loved the history and quality of the brand, the creative direction and especially loved the versatility yet simplicity of the Puzzle style.
I’ve had my Loewe Puzzle Sand for about a year now.
In fact, I bought it preloved (I never thought I would buy an Replica Knockoff of this bag, as I feel it is very well repped. Yet, here we are), but the bag’s condition was “excellent”, so when it arrived, it was almost like new, without any flaws.
Now, after a year has passed, the bag still looks pretty much the same and remains in excellent condition.
Features of Loewe Puzzle Bag
- The bag is made with soft, grained calfskin leather in the color Sand.
- The shoulder strap is removable and adjustable, and you can wear it in multiple ways.
- There’s this leather zipper pull for opening and closing.
- Plus, there’s a nifty zip pocket in the back for quickly stashing small stuff, and inside, there’s a handy pocket.
Loewe Puzzle Bag Sizes
The puzzle bag has 4 sizes: Mini, Small, Medium, and Large.
What fits inside a Loewe small puzzle bag
The dimension of this Loewe Puzzle Bag Small is 9.5″W x 6.5″H x 4″D.
If you have a Gucci Soho Disco Bag, the Puzzle Bag is slightly larger than the Soho and has plenty of room inside.
It can easily fit a notebook and even water bottles.
I can fit a lot of my essentials into this bag without it getting too bulky or heavy. I believe the shape is really a great use of space.
Here’s what I like to carry/can fit inside the Loewe Puzzle Small:
- A wallet
- A cardholder
- A few makeup necessities
- A small hand sanitizer
- My sunglasses + case
- My AirPods
- My phone
- My keys
It’s pretty much the same as what I bring when I carry my Soho.
I find the small so great for travel as well. It’s a really good bag for when you’re sightseeing and want to keep everything safe but still look chic.
Tip: For all those light-colored lined bags, I’d recommend tossing your makeup and stuff into little pouches. It keeps things clean and saves you from the hassle of trying to clean it up later.
In case you wonder about the Loewe Mini Puzzle Bag.
It fits: An iPhone 15 pro, card holder, lip gloss, sunglasses, and AirPods.
PROS CONS of Loewe puzzle bag
Pros
- Able to wear it in multiple ways shoulder, crossbody, top handle, or clutch carry.
- It has this special origami-style design. You can fold it completely flat. Good for travel.
- An icon since 2015, and it doesn’t seem like its style is going anywhere soon.
- The leather is built to last, no need to worry much about wear and tear.
- Come in various colors.
Cons
- The new version of the bag is missing those studs on the base, making it less durable in a way.
- A bit tricky when it comes to getting things in and out of the bag.
Is it worth it?
This is such a great daily bag, very functional shape, awesome details like the zipped pocket in the back, the small flap that keeps pickpocketers away on the top, the very handy top handle and even the removable and adjustable strap!
I love all these features and am so happy I have this Puzzle Bag. I do feel it’s a classic bag that has proven its popularity for over 10 years since being launched.
So, perhaps the question for me is whether it’s worth buying an Replica Knockoff Loewe Puzzle bag rather than a replica.
I think it’s worth it but with a few conditions.
First, this is my first Loewe bag (I didn’t have much of an opinion about the brand until I came across the Puzzle Bag).
Second, the size and color of the bag are exactly what I wanted, and I got it for a good price.
I don’t really recommend paying full price for the Puzzle because Loewe bags don’t hold their value as well as some other brands do.
Although I’m not sure if the classic Puzzle’s resale value will be affected by its impending discontinuation, I don’t think it will have a significant impact.
Loewe Puzzle Edge or Classic Loewe Puzzle?
Is the Loewe puzzle bag discontinued?
I believe some of you may have heard or seen the news that Loewe is discontinuing the classic Puzzle bags and will only produce the Edge bags.
The facts are, while it seems like the Puzzle bag might be phased out in the future, Loewe’s website still offers both the Puzzle and Puzzle Edge bags, but they’re both labeled as “Puzzle” bags by the brand.
Now, let’s take a look at what are the differences between the Loewe Puzzle Edge and the classic Loewe Puzzle.
Loewe Puzzle Edge | Classic Loewe Puzzle |
Leather pieces overlap | Leather pieces displayed side-by-side |
Single-stitch design | Double-stitch design |
The edge looks the same color as the leather | Visible and clear black edge |
Mini Puzzle have adjustable straps | Mini Puzzle have non-adjustable straps |
My thoughts on Puzzle Edge vs Classic Puzzle
Personally speaking, not a huge fan of the Puzzle Edge, I love the small separation between the puzzle pieces on the classic Puzzle.
It gives the bag such an elevated, architectural look! The Puzzle Edge just doesn’t give that vibe to me.
Plus, the Edge is half the construction because the pieces are laid on top of each other and sewn together with one seam versus the OG Puzzle which has a gap and therefore requires seaming on all the pieces.
Also the pieces have to be cut precisely so the gaps are even whereas with the Edge it’s easier to cheat since you’re laying the pieces on top of each other.
Basically they’re decreasing costs and labor and increasing profits.
Kinda disappointed as the whole appeal of the Loewe Puzzle for me was the craftsmanship involved and its origami-like ability to lay flat.
If you’ve been eyeing the classic Loewe Puzzle bags, this is likely the best time to grab one.
Although it might take a while for the current stock of classic Puzzle bags to run out, it’s better to get your hands on one sooner rather than later.
Of course, there are people who like the Edge version, thinking that the Edge has a more modern look and feel, like an updated classic.
It’s mostly a personal choice, just follow your heart and get what you like!

i always thought tht brands discontinue v popular/classic bags in order 2 give them ‘classic’ and ‘coveted’ status. its about exclusivity if its vry difficult to obtain wen ppl do they feel like theyve achieved somthin. somtimes the only way 4 that 2 happen is if u cannot walk into a store walk out with that item ofc ther r ways do this this like control supply which is wat hermes do with b’s kellys thru lottery/wishlist systems. its about creating theideaof scarcity to generate that panic in consumers then cue collectors/auction houses who will buy up rare bags/items 2 sell then make a profit
The handle on the edge looks a bit uncomfortable.
Not all the Edge bags have that bizarre handle, thankfully. Looks like it’d be a disaster to keep clean.
I much prefer the classic! The edge was more difficult to get my hand into the bag as the whole bag is/feels stiffer than the classic
The classic one is waayyyyy more stylish and better made.
