REVIEW OF MY YSL SUNSET BAG

The Sunset series from Saint Laurent is one of their most classic lines. With its iconic accordion design, smooth lines, and strong, simple style, this bag has become a timeless and versatile fashion item. 

Actually, from a visual standpoint, the design of the YSL Sunset is really nice. Even though it might seem a bit conventional, the timeless black and silver color scheme definitely deserves a thumbs up. It’s perfect for commuting simple and elegant without being over the top. 

The bag has a flap with a magnetic lock, very convenient to open and close. Like many other chain flap bags, the YSL Sunset Medium has a long strap that you can wear across your body or you can pull it up to make two shorter straps to wear on your shoulder.

The only downside might be the weight of the bag; it’s pretty hefty. If you’re carrying it around all day, you’ll start to feel it on your shoulders, especially if you’ve got a lot inside. But other than that, it’s a sturdy and stylish option that doesn’t need constant care.

WEAR TEAR OF MY YSL SUNSET MEDIUM

My YSL Sunset Croc has been with me for three or four years and it is still in a pretty good condition.

It’s a champ when it comes to wear and tear. You don’t have to baby this bag it’s not easy to scratch, even if it bumps into things when you’re walking or swinging it around. And mine doesn’t have any obvious scratches on it. (I only noticed a few tiny scratches on the YSL logo and some dust around it).

People really dig YSL Sunset because it seems to be tough as nails, with barely any signs of wear, especially the crocodile-embossed leather version. It’s scratch-resistant thanks to its specific finish and grain. So it’s perfect if you’re a bit clumsy like me or just want something that’ll last.

WHAT FITS INSIDE MY YSL MEDIUM SUNSET BAG

So the YSL Sunset Medium has two bag major compartments, with a small compartment at the front and a small little pocket in the back of the big compartment. And another pocket in the back of the bag.

That’s quite a few options for you to put stuff in, but I usually just use the main compartments.

The dimensions of the bag are 8 X 6.2 X 2.5 IN.

Since the bag itself is not a light bag, I try to just put whatever I need for the day or the night:

• My wallet (with my cards, cash, and coins in)
• A lip balm and a lip gloss
• My keys
• My phone

PROS CONS OF THE SUNSET YSL

Pros

• Classic design that won’t go out of style.
• Simple, versatile look that can match with anything.
• Spacious interior, big enough to carry all your essentials.
• Multiple compartments, easy to organize your stuff.
• Adjustable chain strap, suitable for many occasions.
• Structured shape, and very durable in terms of wear tear.

Cons

• The bag itself has some weight to it.
• The dust around the YSL logo is a bit tricky to clean.

IS THE YSL SUNSET BAG STILL WORTH IT IN 2023?

In my opinion, it’s kinda like a two-sided thing.

Look at all the different bag styles that have come out in the last few years. And still, in 2023, this specific YSL Sunset style seems like it’s worth grabbing.

Why’s that? Well, the Sunset YSL bag is still out there, and it’s kept its classic look. That tells you it’s a design that’s really stood up over time. It’s got that unique YSL feel to it, especially with that logo right in the front. It’s pretty ironic if you ask me!

But then again, there’s another side to it. If you’re not thinking of holding on to this bag for a long while, or you’re the kind of person who changes bags like you change your socks, then you might wanna think twice about it. Just check out those pre-loved sites, and you’ll see what I mean.

So, in a nutshell, if you’re really feeling the style and you’re planning on keeping this bag for a good stretch, then, by all means, go for it. It’s a winner. But if you’re eyeing it more as something to make money on later, this YSL Sunset bag might not be the best bag for that.
